Its .science format can package conversation branches, selected file versions, Notebook records and verification evidence into one transferable file.
Research, ready to hand over. Share the work. Keep the context.
Caption: .science packages can include conversation branches, selected files and recorded evidence.

The backend can run separately from the Electron desktop client. A standalone CLI includes the backend and local Web UI.
What is inside a .science file?
A package can include:
- selected conversation branches;
- selected file versions;
- Notebook records;
- provenance and verification evidence.
The workflow is:
Export → Share → Inspect
Importing a .science file does not automatically run its code, call an AI model or restore the sender’s credentials. Imported research records remain read-only until the user creates a copy.
v0.37.2 vs v0.37.1
| Areav | 0.37.1v | 0.37.2 |
| .science packages | Supported | Better large-session and Notebook transfer reliability |
| PDF processing | Improved figure and table preservation | Additional structure-extraction improvements |
| Backend failures | Standard handling | Recovery paths added |
| Runtime disconnect | Limited recovery | Reconnect and Quit options |
| Windows | Better path support and hidden Notebook subprocesses | Background processes remain console-free |
| Linux CLI | Archive distribution | .deb and .rpm for x64 and ARM64 |
Version 0.37.1 focused mainly on PDF extraction and Windows reliability. Version 0.37.2 focuses on backend recovery, runtime stability and large session transfer.
.science is not new in v0.37.2
The format first appeared in Open-Science v0.29.0. Version v0.30.1 later added support for including selected literature PDFs. The current release improves the existing format rather than replacing it.
How .science differs from a normal export
A normal research export usually contains final files:
report.pdf + results.csv + figure.png
A .science package can also preserve parts of the workflow that produced them:
conversation + file versions + Notebook records + evidence
This gives another researcher more context for inspecting the work.
Model support
Open-Science is not tied to one proprietary model.
It supports multiple model providers and custom compatible endpoints. The environment separates:
AI model → agent framework → research workspace
The model handles reasoning, the agent framework coordinates tools, and Open-Science manages files, execution, provenance and research-session transfer.
Bottom line
AIPOCH Open-Science v0.37.2 is an incremental update focused on stability and research-session portability. Its main differentiator is the .science format, which packages research context together with files and execution records instead of exporting only the final result.
