Creators can connect an existing Amazon Associates or Amazon Influencer account to YouTube and select products from a curated Amazon catalog. Clicking a product tag sends viewers directly to Amazon to complete the purchase. The feature replaces the need to rely on affiliate links in video descriptions.
Product Tags More Than Double Clicks
YouTube says an experiment conducted from July 14 to July 29, 2026 found that videos using Shopping product tags generated more than 110% more product clicks than videos using description links alone.
YouTube also supports automatic product tagging, which can identify eligible Amazon products in creators’ recent videos. This potentially allows existing video libraries to generate affiliate revenue without manually adding links to every upload.
Amazon Earnings Move Into YouTube Studio
Creators can track Amazon-related clicks, sales and estimated revenue in YouTube Studio. Amazon commissions are finalized monthly and paid through AdSense, alongside creators’ other YouTube Shopping affiliate earnings. Payments have a longer settlement period than standard YouTube revenue. For example, Amazon commissions finalized in January may be paid during the March AdSense cycle.
Returns are deducted from commissions and can temporarily create a negative affiliate balance. One limitation is attribution: YouTube provides aggregate Amazon sales and revenue data but does not show creators exactly which individual video or product generated each purchase.
Key Restrictions
The Amazon integration is currently available to eligible U.S. creators participating in the YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program.
Creators must have an Amazon Associates or Amazon Influencer account in good standing. Currently, one Amazon account can be connected to only one eligible YouTube channel for Amazon product tagging.
Creators who connected Amazon accounts to YouTube before September 2024 may also need to reconnect them under the new system.
Why the Deal Matters
The integration shortens the affiliate funnel from:
Video → Description → Affiliate Link → Amazon
To:
Video → Product Tag → Amazon
YouTube’s test suggests that removing the description step can more than double product clicks.
The deal also connects three parts of creator commerce inside one workflow: product discovery through YouTube content, transaction fulfillment through Amazon, and affiliate analytics and payments through YouTube Studio and AdSense.
